Luxury goes Borderless with Club e-Luxe

Anyone who has been closely following the exciting digital strides of the last few years will agree that digital media has more to offer luxury today than ever. In the twenty odd years of the arrival of the World Wide Web as we know it today, a new world has emerged and the luxury sector has been awakened to the reality of finding a place for itself in this new setting. Have luxury brands been playing the digital ball? And how good are they at the game? We could come back to this story in the future but one thing that we have to acknowledge in the meantime is that the luxury sector has awakened to the reality of digital media, innovation and new technologies. The digital "sommeil" is over in luxury land. Hurrray!

There are several examples to illustrate this, starting from the social media breakthrugh by Burberry to Gucci's virtual reality fashion show live stream, Louis Vuitton's 360° fashion fiesta, Boucheron's augmented reality experience and Ralph Lauren's recent 4D extravaganza, not to forget the prolific use of Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Vimeo and Flickr that several luxury houses have ato drive the brand message forward.

These are just the kind of initiatives that we have been pushing forward at Club e-Luxe for nearly five years now. As I look back to the days that major luxury houses shunned conversations about the internet and some even suggested that the internet would disappear just like the Minitel; and I see the landscape of digital luxury today particularly as brands like Ralph Lauren "celebrate" digital innovation, I can't help but heave a long sigh of relief.

As is now the custom, twice a year Club e-Luxe congregates the leaders of some of the world's most innovative luxury companies to provide them with access to the latest developments in digital media, innovation and new technologies through the voices of internationally recognized experts. Focusing on a specific theme that addresses the most pressing digital challenges, the Club e-Luxe Breakfast Seminar held every January and the Club e-Luxe International Summit held every June, both at the Ritz Hotel Paris, have become the destinations for forward thinking luxury companies.

The forthcoming Breakfast Seminar to be held on 13th January 2011 will focus on Borderless Luxury and how luxury brands can bridge the online-offline challenge. In-depth presentations will be made by Luxe Corp, Cisco Systems and Microsoft in areas including borderless networks, cloud computing, virtual reality and e-retail while luxury brands including Boucheron, Nina Ricci, Fabergé and The Watch Avenue among others will debate on crucial approaches in traditional vs online retail as how these affect client services.
